Effects of Moistube Irrigation on Winter Wheat’s Yield and Irrigation Water Use Efficiency

Abstract:
【Objective】Explore the influence of moistube irrigation for the dense planting crops with growth and irrigation water use efficiency. 【Method】We used the completely random experiment design in field of arable land with winter wheat, and the different effects on winter wheats’ growth, the flag leaf characteristics, yield and water use efficiency with moistube irrigation were explored, comparing with drip irrigation (subsurface drip irrigation, surface drip irrigation) and no irrigation. 【Result】The results showed that the winter wheat plant height, dry matter mass, population growth rate, characteristics of flag leaf, yield, crop water use efficiency and irrigation water use efficiency of moistube irrigation were higher than no irrigation treatment and were more similar to drip irrigation, which indicated that the moistube irrigation had a strong applicability under the dense planting winter wheat irrigation in field. Compared with drip irrigation, the water consumption of moistube irrigation was about 3/4 of drip irrigation. The growth period of winter wheat could be extended about 5 d under moistube irrigation and the winter wheat plant height, dry matter mass, population growth rate, characteristics of flag leaf, yield, crop water use efficiency and irrigation water use efficiency could be improved. 【Conclusion】So it is suggested that, at the key crop water requirement period (tasseling stage and grain-filling stage), moistube irrigation work pressures should be appropriately increased in the practical application to ensured winter wheat growth and yield .
