Abstract:
【Objective】 This paper is to study the effect of the angle of the separated tongue on dynamic and static interference of centrifugal pump with intermediate ratio rotation under multiple working conditions. 【Method】Steady and unsteady flow at five centrifugal-compression-angle setting in a centrifugal pump was numerically simulated at 0.8 Qd, 1.0 Qd, and 1.2 Qd. The characteristics of the internal flow in the centrifugal pump and the pressure fluctuation at the outlet and the tongue was obtained; the frequency domain of the fluctuation was also analyzed. 【Result】 An optimal angle of the tongues existed to make the centrifugal pump most efficient, and it shifted toward the point with large flow rate. With an increase in the angle of the partition tongue, the pressure at the partition tongue and the outlet increased as well, while the flow lines in the flow path became smoother. The pressure fluctuation at each monitoring point change periodically. The pressure coefficient increased with flow rate, but decreased as the angle of the tongue increased. Under different working conditions, the amplitude of the pressure fluctuation at the septum decreased first and then increased as the angle of the splayed tongue increased, reaching minimum at angle of 28°. The amplitude of the pressure fluctuation at the outlet varied, increasing as the angle decreased. 【Conclusion】An appropriate increase in the angle of the separator tongue in the centrifugal pump is beneficial to reducing the pressure fluctuation and improving the pump performance.
