Analysis and Comparison of Hydraulic Characteristics of Wing Pillar-Shaped Measuring Flume

Abstract:
【Objective】In order to explore water performance of wing pillar-shaped measuring flume in free outflow and submerged outflow. 【Method】The water levels of 13 flow measuring sections from the inlet to the outlet of the measuring flume under 10 kinds of flow were observed through experiments, and the hydraulic parameters such as water surface line, Froude number and flow measurement accuracy under two conditions of free outflow and submerged outflow were analyzed and compared. 【Result】The analysis results show that there was a good correlation between the flow rate of the airfoil-type measuring flume and the upstream water depth. The flow formula of the flume under free and submerged outflow conditions was obtained by fitting. The errors between the measured flow rate and the calculated flow rate meeted the requirements of the Specifications for water measurement of irrigation canal system (GB/T 21303-2017). The variation law of Froude number under different flow conditions was analyzed, and the position of the critical water depth was determined. 【Conclusion】The critical flow section is located at 4 times the height of the wing of the measuring flume from the inlet. The airfoil measuring flume has a large free outflow range, and the critical submergence degree can reach 0.890. This study can provide reference for the development and application of water measuring facilities in irrigation districts in northern China.
