Dynamic Simulation and Identification of Flood Risk in Yarkant Irrigated Area Based on GIS Grid Dataset |

Abstract: |
【Objective】Flood risk analysis can provide technical guidance for flood control planning and management in Yarkant River irrigation area. 【Method】According to the flood events of Yarkant river in the past 50 years,the most flood events was taken in the region between Kaqun canal head and Eryketam along the Yarkant River as an study area. Merging GRID raster file generated from DEM,flood inundation routing model for integrating FloodArea was established to calculate flood risk factors under high and regular magnitude flood scenarios,such as inundation area,flood depth and flow velocity. And then flood risk map for the study area was compiled. 【Result】The results show that The Yarkant flood inundation area is mainly limited to the vicinity of the plain river section. The 20-year return flood risk of Yarkant River is high,which can cause overflowing and inundation losses in part reaches downstream of the Kaqun gauge. The inundation area is mainly distributed along the riverside and the low-lying areas of the irrigation area,with a large flood submerged area.The intensity of the 5-year return flood and the flood-inundation area are reduced compared with the 20-year return flood.Combined with DEM and the flood process. 【Conclusion】It is feasible to use the floodArea model to simulate the high and regular magnitude flood inundation area,and identify the flood risk . |
