【Background】The soil water in the check dam is an important factor affecting agricultural production and ecological environment construction in arid and semi-arid areas.【Objective】To explore the temporal and spatial distribution of soil moisture and shallow groundwater in the check dams on the Loess Plateau,【Method】based on electrical resistivity tomography, several sample lines were set up to measure soil resistivity in two check dams of Liudaogou small watershed in Shenmu, combined with the measured soil moisture and shallow groundwater depth, the study aims to investigate the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of shallow groundwater in the check dam and estimate its storage.【Result】There is a significant power function relationship between soil resistivity and soil moisture content (P <0.05). The soil resistivity shows a decreasing trend with depth. The shallow surface soil moisture gradually increases with depth, and there is a stratification phenomenon. From gully head to gully tailing, the buried depth of the shallow groundwater in the dam A and B gradually increases, and the groundwater storage shows a distribution pattern where the gully tailing is larger than the gully head and the middle is the minimum. The changes of shallow groundwater storages is seasonal. The period from early winter to summer is the period of soil water consumption, and the supply period is from late summer to early autumn. Moreover, the minimum shallow groundwater is present to summer, their value are 85 949 and 93 486 m3 respectively, while shallow groundwater storage in winter is maximum, with values of 94 196 and 99 309 m3 respectively.【Conclusion】These is a certain amount of water in check dams, and the shallow groundwater has obvious seasonal fluctuations. In the future, it is necessary to pay attention to the regulation and utilization of the water resource. |
