Abstract: |
[Background] In the arid regions of central Ningxia, there is little annual precipitation and severe evaporation, Water shortage is the main factor restricting the agricultural development in the region. As the main component of field water consumption, to calculate soil evaporation is of great significance for field water management. Planting on gravel-mulched land as the main local planting mode,it is very important to figure out the differences of soil evaporation between bare land and gravel-mulched land. [Objective] In order to investigate the relationship between soil evaporation and water surface evaporation and water content in the arid area of central Ningxia, as well as to find the critical soil water contents that controll soil evaporation process. [Method]Soil evaporations under gravel-mulched and bare soil surface were measured to analyze the relationships between soil evaporation, water surface evaporation and soil water content. [Result] According to the experimental data, the evaporation process of bare land can be divided into three stages, and that in sand mulching is two. The two critical values that discriminate the three stages of the bare land evaporation process were0.214 8 g/g <θb1<0.209 6 g/g and 0.1140 g/g <θb2<0.115 4 g/g. And the critical value that discriminate the two stages of the evaporation process of gravel-mulched land was 0.208 1 g/g<θg<0.214 7 g/g. [Conclusion] Based on the above critical moisture content values, the empirical formula was established for the relationship between soil evaporation and water surface evaporation in the gravel-mulched and bare land.
