Temporal and Spatial Distribution Characteristics of Soil Moisture in Winter Wheat in Huaibei Plain Area based on suitable Soil Moisture Threshold |

Abstract: |
[Objective] Investigate temporal and spatial variation characteristics of soil water in winter wheat growth season in Huaibei Plain, and provide scientific basis for irrigation and field water management of winter wheat.[Methods] Based on the soil water data and suitable soil water threshold of four stations in the Huaibei Plain from 1992 to 2018, the mann-Kendall test (m-K test for short), sliding T test and Kriging interpolation were used to analyze the temporal and spatial variation of soil water in the winter wheat growth season in the Huaibei Plain.[Results]①The water content in the soil layer 10cm and 20cm in the whole growth period of winter wheat decreased, while that in the soil layer 50cm increased.Soil moisture at 10cm, 20cm and 50cm did not mutate, and its change was within the normal fluctuation range.②During the growth period of winter wheat, the probability of soil water content in jointing - heading stage, heading - milk ripe stage and milk ripe -riping stage being lower than the appropriate water content limit was respectively 38.5%, 46.2% and 46.2%, which was not conducive to the growth and development of winter wheat.However, the soil water content in reviving - jointing stage is higher than the lower limit of suitable water content, and the possibility of drought stress is low.③In terms of spatial distribution, the surface soil moisture of winter wheat during the whole growth period was the highest in the southwest and lower in the middle, while the middle soil moisture content of 50cm was decreasing from south to north.④In the jointing - heading stage, the probability of the low soil moisture area in Bengbu and Mengcheng was 45.5% and 50.0%, while in the heading - milk ripe stage, the probability was 62.0% and 38.1%, respectively.[Conclusion] In the future, the surface soil moisture content may decrease, and the growth of winter wheat is more likely to be subjected to drought stress. Therefore, the irrigation of winter wheat should be strengthened in Bengbu and Mengcheng area. |
