Discussion on the sediment accumulation features and dredging measures in front of the sluice after water storage of the Alaer Barrage |

Abstract: |
The proposed Alaer Barrage is located in the main stream of Tarim River in Xinjiang. Based on the theory of river dynamics, this paper analyzed the sediment accumulation in front of the sluice and its internal mechanism after water storage. According to the observed data, after the barrage retains water, the sediment-carrying capacity of the river about 7.2km below the upstream of the sluice tends to decrease. Compared with the results of 15-year model tests, the sediment accumulation is consistent with that caused by changes in hydraulic conditions, and the siltation feature is close to the existing findings. After comprehensive analysis, the siltation that leads to the reduction of the landscape waters in front of the sluice usually occurs in the river section 1.2km-2.7m away from the sluice. Combined with the features of the dredging technical measures and the actual siltation of the river itself, this paper compared the performance parameters of different dredging equipment, and finally recommended the pump suction type. |
