Abstract: |
【Objective】In order to study the effect of water and nitrogen regulation on cotton root dry weight under drip irrigation in slightly saline soil.【Method】 a three-level barrel experiment was conducted under light salt stress (4-5 g/kg) and drip irrigation. Using local cotton variety "Nongfeng 133", the dry weight of cotton roots under drip irrigation at three levels of 300, 600 and 900 kg/hm2 (marked N1, N2, and N3 respectively, supplemented with urea) and 2 750, 3 750 and 4 750 m3/hm2 (marked W1, W2 and W3 respectively) were studied. 【Result】The results showed that the effect of water on root dry weight was more obvious than that of nitrogen. Under the same nitrogen level, the root dry weight increased first and then decreased with the increase of irrigation amount. The effect of normal irrigation on root matter accumulation was better. In the vertical direction, the root dry weight decreases with the depth of 0-40 cm soil layer, and increases near the bottom of the bucket. Proper increase of irrigation amount and nitrogen application can increase root dry weight in soil below 30 cm. In the horizontal direction, the root dry weight increased significantly in the vicinity of the distance from the emitter. When the irrigation amount was low, the root dry weight decreased obviously in the horizontal range far from the emitter. Increasing nitrogen application is not conducive to increasing root dry weight in horizontal direction. With the increase of soil depth, the root dry weight density decreased, and changed rapidly in 0-30 cm soil layer. The root dry weight density increased in the bottom soil layer limited by barrel height. Appropriate increase of nitrogen application rate will increase root dry weight density. The effect of water and nitrogen interaction on root dry weight density reached a very significant level (P<0.01). 【Conclusion】Generally speaking, The effect of nitrogen on root system is limited by the water condition in soil. High nitrogen has a significant negative effect on root growth |
