Evaluation of Water Resources Carrying Capacity in Inner Mongolia Desert Steppe Irrigation District |

Abstract: |
【Objective】The purpose of this study was to discuss the water resources carrying capacity of the desert steppe irrigation area in Inner Mongolia, and to provide a theoretical basis for the optimization of the water resources system structure and economic and social development in the irrigation area. 【Methods】Five typical areas in Alxa Zuoqi (Yaoba Beach, Green Beach, Tonggu Nao'er Beach, Chahar Beach, Xinjing) were taken as the research areas, and three factors of water resources, ecology and social economy were comprehensively considered. An evaluation index system was established, and the entropy weight-TOPSIS model was used to comprehensively evaluate and calculate the water resources carrying capacity of typical areas. 【Results】In 2018, the water resources carrying capacity evaluation indices of Yaoba, Chahar, Tonggunaoer, Gelin, and Xinjing were 0.682, 0.576, 0.213, 0.392, and 0.247, respectively, which were at grades III and IV. After scenario prediction, it is found that the evaluation index of water resources carrying capacity in 2050 is the highest under the conditions of increasing the degree of returning farmland to forest, slowing down the economic growth rate and reducing the growth rate of irrigated area. 【Conclusion】Based on the above results, the study area should take sustainable development as the premise, promote drip irrigation and other water-saving irrigation technologies and increase the intensity of returning farmland to forest according to the local agricultural-based development needs and industrial methods; To meet the policy requirements of “production”, implement a strict water resources management system, and realize the improvement of the water resources carrying capacity of the whole region. |
