Sources of the Spatio-temporal Distribution Characteristics for Water Pollutants in Henan Province from 2009 to 2017

Abstract:
【Objective】Understanding the spatio-temporal similarity and difference of water pollutants, which provided the basis to control the water environment for the water environment management department .【Method】The distribution characteristics, trends and mutations of water pollutant mass concentrations were analyzed separately by the statistical analysis and M-K test method, and the spatio-temporal similarity and difference of water pollutants were analyzed by the cluster analysis using the monthly average concentrations of water pollutants (COD and NH3-N) for thirty-six monitoring stations from 2009 to 2017 in Henan Province.【Result】The average concentrations of COD and NH3-N were maximum at the Liyuan Bridge of Wuyang and Banqiao of Sui County, respectively; the average concentrations of COD and NH3-N were minimum at the Highway bridge of Yewu. The average concentrations of COD and NH3-N exceeding the class III water quality standards reached 66.67% and 61.67% for the monitoring stations, respectively; there were only nine monitoring stations that the average concentrations of COD and NH3-N reached the class III water quality standards and below. There were twenty-five and twenty-six monitoring stations that the concentrations of COD and NH3-N showed a significant decreasing trend , respectively; but only a few monitoring stations showed a significant increasing trend. The COD concentrations had obvious mutation at the Luodeng Bridge of Yancheng County and Wuzhuang of Mianchi County, and the NH3-N concentrations had obvious mutation at the Luodeng Bridge of Yancheng County, Dongsunying of Luyi County and Baisha Reservoir. The temporal and spatial distribution of water pollutant concentrations were basically consistent, the water pollutant concentrations were relatively high in February, march and may and the water pollutant concentrations were relatively low in July to September, November and December.【Conclusion】In Henan province, the degree of water pollutants was still serious, but the water pollutant concentrations showed a decreasing trend. The water environment pollution situation is gradually improved, and the water pollutants are spatio-temporal basically consistent at the each monitoring stations.
