Evaluation of water resources capacity of rocky desertification areas in Yunnan province

Abstract:
【Background】With the increase of population and the rapid development of social economy, the demand of people for water resources continues to increase, and a series of problems such as water shortage, water ecological destruction and water quality deterioration are urgently to be solved. Most studies on the water resources capacity in Karst areas focus on Guizhou province, however, the Karst areas of Yunnan accounts for nearly 1/3 of the total area of Yunnan province, which is the second largest Karst area and one of the key province for the control of rocky desertification in China, and there is no research on the water resources capacity of Karst areas in Yunnan province. Combined with the increasingly attention to the ecological civilization construction in our country, so the idea of "ecological civilization" was carried out through this study, this was the important ways to reveal the relationship between the region's water resources, river basin, society, economy and population, the scientific planning, rational utilization and effective development could be provided for the water resources in Karst areas of Yunnan province.【Objective】The objective is to explore the water resources capacity in rocky desertification areas of Yunnan.【Method】Based on the six typical rocky desertification areas in Yunnan province (Wenshan, Qujing, Zhaotong, Honghe, Lijiang, Diqing), fuzzy analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method was used to evaluate the water resources capacity of the six areas; the evaluation index system include four criterion layers and 24 indicators, there four layers are social development, economic condition, environmental protection, and water resources, through the calculation of index weights and evaluation matrix, the regional comprehensive score was obtained.【Result】The score value of water resources carrying capacity in rocky desertification areas of Yunnan province was the highest under the V2 grade, and there was a significant difference between the comprehensive scores of each region (p < 0.05), the maximum value was 0.501 in Lijiang and the minimum value was 0.386 in Zhaotong.【Conclusion】The development and utilization of water resources in the rocky desertification area of Yunnan province has reached a certain degree, but there is also potential for development and utilization. The degree of development and utilization varies significantly among different regions. Among the typical regions, Lijiang has the highest water resources capacity, while Zhaotong has the lowest. Therefore, scientific planning and rational development and utilization should be combined with the actual conditions.
