Comparative analysis of spatial and temporal distribution and driving factors of water yield in typical basins of inland rivers in arid areas of northwest China

Abstract:
【Objective】Affected by global climate change and human activities, the water conditions in arid areas have changed significantly.Under this background, studying the spatial and temporal variation of regional water yield and its driving factors is helpful to the allocation and management of regional water resources.【Methods】In this paper, the InVEST model was used to simulate the spatial and temporal distribution of water yield in Hetian River Basin, Kaidu-Peacock River Basin and Yarkant River Basin from 2000 to 2015, and the driving factors were compared and analyzed.【Result】The results show:(1)Spatially, the average annual water yield of each basin is concentrated in the upper reaches of the basin, that is, above the mountain pass;(2)From 2000 to 2015, the water yield of Hetian River Basin and Kaidu-Kongque River Basin is mainly declining, while that of Yarkant River Basin is opposite;(3)From the significant point of view, only the area with significant correlation between precipitation and water yield of each basin accounts for a large proportion, which indicates that precipitation plays a key role in water yield function of the basin;(4)According to the geographical detector, air temperature and precipitation are the main factors affecting the spatial distribution of water yield in each basin; the interaction between the two factors in each basin has nonlinear enhancement;In ecological exploration, there are significant differences between population density and GDP in Hetian River Basin, relative humidity and radiation and wind speed in Kaidu-Kongque River Basin, GDP in Yarkant River Basin, population density and relative humidity.【Conclusion】The water yield of typical inland river basins in arid area of Northwest China is mainly affected by temperature and precipitation.
