Abstract:
【Objective】We aimed to explore the effect of poplar growth under drip fertilization on.【Methods】Six-year-old ‘107’ poplar clones (Populus × euramericana cv.‘ 74/76 ’) was researched. We determined the annual growth of poplar trees, and we got samples from strains direction at the horizontal distances of 100 cm from the stem. The sampling depth was 40cm and the characteristics of fine root were measured.【Results】Under drip fertilization, the accumulation increment of T1~T7 treatments was significantly higher than that of T0 treatment and T6 treatment was the largest. The accumulation increment increased first and then decreased with the increase of fertilizer application. The maximum values of fine root biomass and fine root length in different soil layers of 0~40cm were under T6 or T7 treatment. And the maximum values of fine root biomass and fine root length under T0~T7 treatments were in the soil layer of 0~10cm, then it decreased with the depth of the soil. The specific root length of fine roots decreased with the increase of fertilizer application, and in the vertical direction, the distribution characteristics were decreased firstly and then increased. The correlation between annual increment of DBH and fine root characteristics was significant, the maximum correlations were with the total biomass, root length and specific root length of 0~40cm soil layers.【Conclusion】The effect of drip fertilization on the growth of poplar plantation was significant, the optimal fertilization of six-year-old poplar plantation under drip irrigation was N 252g, P 42g and K 126g per plant. The annual growth of poplar was significantly correlated with fine roots. Drip fertilization could promote the growth and accumulation of fine roots but did not change the vertical distribution characteristics of fine roots which was decreased with the deepening of soil layer. As a kind of economical and efficient cultivation technique, drip fertilization can be popularized and applied in areas with poor soil and water shortage.
