Monthly variation of ground temperature and its response to temperature in Wudaogou area from 1971 to 2020

Abstract:
【Objective】The variation of monthly average ground temperature in 0~320 cm layer and its response to air temperature in Wudaogou area from 1971 to 2020 were studied.【Method】Using the monthly mean air temperature and the monthly mean ground temperature data of 0~320 cm (0, 10, 40, 80, 160 and 320 cm) at Wudaogou hydrological experimental station from 1971 to 2020, the methods of linear trend estimation, M-K test and Morlet wavelet analysis were used, the monthly variation of soil temperature and its response to air temperature in 0~320 cm soil layer in recent 50 years were analyzed. 【Result】(1) In the 50 years of Wudaogou Experimental Station, the ground temperature trend of each layer has changed. Except for June to September, the other months showed an increasing trend, with the largest increase in March and the smallest increase in October; 0~160 cm showed an overall upward trend, 0cm had the largest increase, 160cm had the smallest increase, and 320cm showed an overall downward trend. (2) according to the wavelet analysis, there are obvious 3~6, 8~12 and 15~25 a scale cycles in each layer of the ground temperature, in which the 3~6 a and 8~12 a scale cycles are dominant. (3) M-K mutation test showed that the ground temperature of 0, 10, 80, 160 and 320 cm had mutation, and the mutation years were about 2012, 2017, 2016, 2019 and 1972 respectively. (4) There are obvious differences in the response of monthly average ground temperature to temperature change at different depths. The ground temperature at 0 ~ 80 cm is more sensitive to temperature change; The sensitivity of 160 cm ground temperature to temperature change is weak; The ground temperature of 320 cm is basically not affected by the change of air temperature. The correlation between the annual average ground temperature of 0 ~ 160 cm layers is good; The correlation between the ground temperature of 320 cm and that of other layers is poor.【Conclusion】the monthly average ground temperature of each layer generally shows an upward trend, and the ground temperature has different variation trends in different months; The annual average ground temperature series of each layer has obvious characteristics of mutation and periodic change; With the increase of depth, the correlation between monthly average ground temperature and air temperature decreases gradually.
