Effects of the aeration frequency and amount of drip irrigation on yield and tuber quality of potato in Yunnan,China

Abstract:
【Objective】 Improving the yield of winter potato and saving water by studying the suitable combination scheme of aeration frequency and irrigation amount for winter potato in Yunnan under drip irrigation, this paper investigated the feasibility to achieve this goal..【Method】Three irrigation levels were set as W1(100%ETC), W2(80%ETC) and W3(60%ETC),three aeration frequency were set as D1(1d), D2(5d) and D3(7d),so there are nine treatments in total. Through observing the indexes of potato growth, yield and quality in each growth period, he effects of different amount of drip irrigation and aeration frequency treatments on potato indexes were analyzed.【Result】The experiment result indicates that aeration frequency and irrigation amount had significant effects on plant height, stem diameter, leaf area index and yield of potato(P<0.05). Plant height, leaf area index, commercial potato weight and yield of W1 treatment were higher than those of W2 and W3 treatment at the same aeration frequency with D2 and D3. Plant height, stem diameter, leaf area index and yield of W2 treatment were significantly higher than those of W1 and W3 treatment at D1 aeration frequency. The yield of W2 treatment was 44 522 kg/hm2, which was 9.28% and 13.9% higher than that of W1 and W3 treatment, respectively. Plant height, stem diameter, leaf area index, commercial potato weight and yield of D1 treatment were significantly higher than those of D2 and D3 treatment. At W2 treatment, the highest yield of D1 treatment was 44 522 kg/hm2, which was 20.0% and 28.8% higher than that of D2 and D3 treatments, respectively. Under D1W1 (high frequency and high water) treatment, the mass fractions of starch and vitamin C were the highest, and the mass fraction of reducing sugar were the lowest, which were 16.6%, 20.8 mg/100g and 0.53%. 【Conclusion】So in terms of growth and yield,D1W2(1d, 80%ETC) is the best treatment. In terms of quality, D1W1(1 d, 100%ETC) is the best treatment. The results of study can provide a basis for the establishment of irrigation system for high yield, high efficiency and high quality of winter potato production in Yunnan.
