Soil infiltration characteristics and suitable model analysis of Pinus tabuliformis plantation in the Ziwuling

Abstract:
【Objective】In order to provide a theoretical basis for the water conservation and the function-oriented stand improvement in the hinterland of the Loess Plateau, the soil infiltration characteristics and evaluate the suitability models of Pinus tabuliformis plantations of different densities forests in the Ziwuling area of the Loess Plateau was studied. 【Method】Five different densities (2 222, 3 200, 4 802, 6 250 and 7 503 plants/hm2) of Pinus tabuliformis plantations were selected as research objects in Lianjiabian Forest farm, Heshui County, Gansu Province in August 2023. The double-ring infiltration method was used to measure the soil infiltration characteristics, and numerical simulation method was used to analyze and evaluate the fitting effect of five soil infiltration models. 【Result】① The initial infiltration rate, stabilized infiltration rate, average infiltration rate and cumulative infiltration amount of soil in different densities of Pinus tabuliformis plantations presented a "single-peak" trend of change with the increase of stand density, and the peaks were all at 4 802 plants/hm2, with the average values of 18.27, 11.31, 13.57 mm/min and 143.45 cm, respectively; ② The densities of the stands with the highest to lowest cumulative infiltration were: 4 802 (143.45 cm), 6 250 (121.21 cm), 7 503 (53.03 cm), 3 200 (52.04 cm), and 2 222 (50.25 cm) plants/hm2 respectively; ③ Through the comparison of initial infiltration rate, stabilized infiltration rate, average infiltration rate and cumulative infiltration amount, the soil infiltration capacity of different densities of Pinus tabuliformis plantation, from large to small, was as follows: 4 802 > 6 250 > 3 200 > 7 503 > 2 222 plants/hm2; ④ The R2 of the General Model, Jiang Dingsheng Model, Horton Model, Philip Model, and Kostiakov Model were 0.985, 0.966, 0.951, 0.867 and 0.760, respectively. 【Conclusion】Considering only the soil infiltration capacity of different densities of Pinus tabuliformis plantations of different densities forests in the Ziwuling area of the Loess Plateau, the water conservation function of the Pinus tabuliformis plantation with different density was good at 4 802 plants/hm2, and the General Model was the most suitable for simulating the soil infiltration process in this study area.
