Journal of Irrigation and Drainage (ISSN 1672-3317; CN 41-1337/S), founded in 1982, is a comprehensive academic journal administered by the Ministry of Water Resources of the People's Republic of China and sponsored by the Farmland Irrigation Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society. The journal is published on the 25th of every month worldwide.

The journal has been selected as a Chinese Core Journal, Key Magazine of China Technology, Research Center for Chinese Science Evaluation (RCCSE) Core Journal (A), Core Journals of China Agriculture, Source Journal of Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD). It has also been included in various international databases, including the Scopus, DOAJ, AJ of VINITI, CAB Abstracts, Chemical Abstracts (CA), EBSCO, Ulrich's Periodicals Directory (Ulrichsweb), ProQuest, EuroPub, etc.
