Abstract:
This paper investigated the impact of different irrigation methods on soil density, soil porosity, aggregate stability, seed abscission and yield of peanuts in 2014—2015. Three methods: micro-spray irrigation, mobile-pipe irrigation and no irrigation were tested. The results revealed that compared with mobile-pipe irrigation, the micro-spray irrigation reduced soil density, stability of aggregates smaller than 0.25 mm, and abscission of seeds by 7.6%, 6.4% and 66.8% respectively, whereas the associated soil porosity increased by 8.4%. There was no significant difference between the yields of the two irrigations treatments. Considering the yield, the change in soil physical properties and the seed abscission rate, we feel that the micro-spray irrigation is beneficial to peanut harvest in our experiment.
