Abstract: |
Current design of regulating-water pool in the field assumed the irrigation is rotational, while in realityfarmers often use the water during some specific time periods. In order to resolve this dilemma between design and use, this paper presented a new method to calculate how to adjust the pool volume assuming the daily change of intensive water use with time was two trapezoidal shapes, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. We compared the pool sizes calculated considering both normal rotational irrigation and intensive irrigations at specific times. The results showed that the pool volume for intensive irrigation was larger than that for rotational irrigation, and for a typical trapezoidal shape of water-use process, the pool volume needed to be enlarged by 14.82%. Hence, in designing the water pool, its volume should be calculated based on the real demand for irrigation to ensure safe and reliable operation of the irrigation system. |
