Abstract: |
【Objective】Understanding the eco-environmental capacity of surface water is crucial to its sustainable management. The objective of this paper is to present the results of an analysis of the environmental capacity of Wuliangsuhai lake as well as its associated impacting factors. 【Method】The analysis was based on the measured water inflow into the lake, and the change in contaminant concentrations at the outlet during both frozen and non-frozen seasons. 【Result】 The self-cleaning capacity of the lake was weaker during the frozen season than during the non-frozen season, and the concentration of nitrogen and organic pollutants during the frozen season was much lower than that during the non-frozen season.【Conclusion】During the non-frozen season, the water taken from the Yellow river and the receding water from the farmland in the region combined to reduce the capacity of the lake for nitrogen and phosphorus, while the dilution by the Yellow river water increased the capacity of the lake for organic pollutants. |
